Colen Lamar Sipes, 74, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. Born July 11, 1949, in Iredell County, N.C., he was a son of the late Charles A. and Sarah Elizabeth Shumake Sipes.

Mr. Sipes was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired as a technician for the Air National Guard. Mr. Sipes was a member of Troutman Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, working puzzles and color by numbers.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William Cato, and grandson, Quentin Stultz.

Mr. Sipes is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sondra Beasley Sipes; children, Marcie Stultz, Charles Justin Sipes and wife Casey and Jennifer Sipes Winford and husband Andre; sister, Sheila Cato; niece, Mary Beth Weaver; nephew, Scott Cato; grandchildren, Victoria, Duncan, Isabella, Thayden, Zachery, Layla, Elijah, Emmett, Dre’vontae, Aa’hyra, Raigan, Aiyana, and Treasure; and great grandchildren, Elli, Leigh and Autumn.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2023, with a Celebration of Life following at Troutman Baptist Church with Rev. John Stevenson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Troutman Baptist Church, P.O. Box 275, Troutman, NC 28166.
