The Mooresville Graded School District Board of Education has approved the hiring of Jonathan Farmer as the district’s new director of transportation.
Farmer comes to MGSD Rowan Salisbury Schools, where he has served as the assistant principal of infrastructure and operations at South Rowan High School since 2015. Prior to 2015, he worked as a mathematics teacher at West Rowan High School, as well as A. L. Brown High School in Kannapolis City Schools.
Farmer earned his bachelor’s degree from Wingate University in Mathematics Education and his Masters of School Administration from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
In 2014, Farmer received the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Kannapolis Rotary for his commitment to community service and leadership. He also received the Caring for Others award from Woodmen Life in 2023.
In his spare time, Farmer enjoys spending time with his wife Miranda and daughter Morgan. He loves traveling from the mountains to the coast, camping, doing yard work, and completing DIY projects. He is also active in Jackson Park United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.
