Roland Clyde “RC” Farr, 88, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born on October 20, 1935, in Fox Hollow, Pa., he was the son of the late Clyde Glenn Farr and Helen Ann Keithline Farr.
In addition to his parents, RC was also preceded in death by one brother, David Edward Farr; and two sisters, Daisy Farr and Barbara Ann Richter.
RC spent his career serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Captain. He was a member of the VFW in Tunkhannock, Pa. He was also a member of Mountain Road Baptist Church.
On September 8, 1956, he married Julia Beverly Wood Farr, and they shared 67 years together.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julia; five sons, Robert Farr (Joyce) of Coolville, Ohio, Roland C. Farr Jr. (Julia) of Mooresville, N.C.; Jeffrey Randal Farr ((Betty) of Statesville, N.C., Kevin Lee Farr (Susan) of Scranton, Pa., and Brian Keith Farr of Savannah, Ga.; one daughter, Beverly Jean Ducket (Wiley) of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, John Milford Farr (Julie) of Melton, Pa.; and three sisters, Geraldine Marie Madill of Tunkhannock, Pa., Mary Jane Stevenson of Mehoopany, Pa., and Mildred Emaline Smith of Dunshore, Pa. RC is further survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service honoring his life will follow the visitation in the chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home beginning at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Fox and Retired Major Charles Arnold officiating.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery.
