William Neal McGinn Jr., 77, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House. He was born December 3, 1946, to the late William Neal McGinn Sr. and Lillian Jeanette Mundy McGinn.

In addition to his parents, Neal was preceded in death by daughter, Lisa McGinn King, and brother,
Marshall McGinn.

Born and raised in Charlotte, N.C., Neal was a true Southern gentleman. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He loved spending time outdoors with family and friends, kayaking, hiking, biking, fishing, or just enjoying a good bourbon and cigar. He retired from Duke Energy after 32 years of service as a senior analyst in Finance/Project Controls roles. Neal proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was in the Vietnam war and received the Bronze Star.

Neal is survived by his loving wife, Dana Bottoms McGinn; grandchildren, Gage and Natalie King; son-in-law, Michael King; sister, June French and husband Rick, of Charlotte, N.C.; nieces, Elizabeth Farley and Katherine Rhodes and husband Dusty, of Charlotte, N.C.

A Celebration of Neal’s Life will be held in the spring.
