Lorene Marlow Gilleland, 87, of Troutman, N.C., passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at her home. She was born on May 18, 1936, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Walter Coy Marlow and Lillian Waugh Marlow.
Lorene was a graduate of Troutman High School, class of 1954. She married her husband, G. Carroll Gilleland, on December 22, 1962, celebrating 61 years together. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lorene loved to garden and be outdoors, and, most importantly, she loved her family dearly.
Along with her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy McCoy (David) and Beatrice McCoy (Clarence) and a brother and sister-in-law, J.D. Marlow (Matoka).
Those left to cherish the life of Lorene are her husband, G. Carroll Gilleland; and children, Lori Simpson (Kenny), Micheal Gilleland (Lori Ann), and Karen Holcomb (Clark). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Charlene Jones (Zane), Kaylee Johnson (Kylie), and Joshua Simpson (Kaiden); great grandchildren, Bailee Johnson, Grayson Jones, Emma Jones, and Wylder Simpson; and a special niece, Patricia Medlin (Alex); as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Troutman Funeral Home. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and officiated by Bishop Charlie Loyd. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice caregivers Lorie Warren, Lisa Brown, and Ramona Teague.
