James Larry Talbert, 78, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023. He was the husband of Diane White Talbert and the son of the late James Alvin and Eloise Holdsclaw Talbert.

Larry was born on April 21, 1945, in Mooresville, N.C., and was a graduate of Bandys High School and Catawba Valley Technical School. Larry then joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War as a member of the Military Police. He earned multiple medals, including the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Upon returning home, he began his career with the airline industry and was promoted to manager of cargo shipping, serving over 30 years in the airlines.

Larry was predeceased by his parents James and Eloise; and his brother, Bill.

He is survived by his wife Diane; and his step-children Lisa Mihailuk (Marty), Robert Gadany (Mary) and Staci Ostwalt (Brantley); and his siblings, Virginia Clontz (Hugh), Patricia Mayberry (Clate), Joyce McConnell (David), and Boyce Talbert (Kathy). Larry is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Denver, N.C., with Rev. Lonny Ramsey and Rev. Von Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 until 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Church cemetery in Catawba, N.C.
