A Huntersville man was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder in connection with the death of a Mooresville resident.
Tristan Randy Charles Strickland, 25, was apprehended in Charlotte by the U.S. Marshal Service, according to a Mooresville Police Department news release.
A grand jury returned a true bill of indictment on January 3 charging Strickland with second-degree murder and conspiracy to possess with intent to sell a schedule I controlled substance.
Those charges stem from a Mooresville police investigation into the death of William Griffin Carney. A 2015 graduate of Lake Norman High School, Carney died as a result of a drug overdose on September 28, 2022, police said.
According to the news release, MPD detectives learned during their investigation that Strickland had provided Carney, 25, with a lethal dose of fentanyl.
Following his arrest, Strickland was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where a magistrate set his bond at $750,000.
The Mooresville Police Department expressed its appreciation to the Huntersville Police Department and the U.S. Marshal Service for their assistance in this investigation.
