Thomas Gerald Boan, 80, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Gerald was born on January 11, 1944, in Statesville, son of the late Clyde Boan Sr. and Wilma Lowery Boan. He was a part of the Cool Spring School Class of 1962 and went on to get his master’s degree in economics at N.C. State University. Gerald retired from Carpet and Furniture Distributors and was a member at Jericho Church of Christ.
Gerald loved the Lord above all else and dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel with others. He served as an elder at Northview Church of Christ for over 30 years and taught many about the Lord. He was married for over 58 years to his high school sweetheart, Kay Boan, who stood by his side no matter what – especially during his courageous 10-year battle with Parkinson’s. He loved his family, golf, carpentry, his N.C. State Wolfpack, crosswords, and telling witty jokes. Gerald will always be remembered for the impact he made on everyone he met.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Nolton Boan, and a nephew, Max Holland Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kay Porter Boan; son, Keith Boan (Kris); daughter, Heather White (Rich); grandchildren, Brady White (Sara), Trent White (Aslyn), Bailey Krupla (Jonny), Brooke Ludwig (Ivan), Beck Boan (Stephanie), and Briley Boan; and great granddaughter, Addie Grace White. He is further survived by his sister, Priscilla Holland (Max), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, at Troutman Funeral Home with Minister Jack Lipsey and Minister Kirk Sams officiating; song leader will be Bobby Grigsby. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
A special thanks to Sherrie’s In-Home Care LLC and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for all the care they provided.
