Lonnie Dennis Carter, 74, of Statesville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2024, at his home.

Dennis was born June 26, 1949, in Iredell County to the late Lawrance Lowtharpe Carter and Margaret Gernell Payne Carter.

Dennis retired from Bartlett Milling and served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judith Pendergrass, and his brother Larry Lawrance Carter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Joan W. Carter of the home; his son Joshua Payne Carter (Rachel Wilson) of Statesville; his daughter Rikki Leigh Carter of Statesville; his sister Sandra Josey of Statesville; and his grandchild Payton Trivette.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Abilene Church of Christ fellowship hall on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 2 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
