Cameron Kenneth Ayers, devoted husband, father and friend to all, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 35.
Born February 7, 1989, in Statesville, N.C., to Timothy Ayers and Renee Woodcock, Cam was a diehard Braves baseball fan, and lover of the outdoors. He was happiest on Saturday afternoons smoking a Boston butt on his BBQ grill.
A graduate of West Iredell High School and EMT course at Mitchell Community College, Cam had an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to open Titan Roofing & Restoration in 2022. Aside from being driven and business savvy, he was known by his employees as a dedicated and professional boss.
Cam married his soulmate, Ashley, on October 17, 2017, in Asheville, N.C. The two were inseparable companions and best friends. They were blessed with one child, Wylder.
He was a devout NASCAR racing fan and beachgoer. His favorite pastime was watching Survivor with his Nana on Wednesday nights. Cam also enjoyed traveling — Belize and Wyoming were two of his favorite places.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring wife, Ashley Brooke Ayers; son, Wylder Hayes Ayers; father, Timothy Kenneth Ayers; grandmother, Carolyn Hodge Ayers; aunt, Kimberly Ayers Pope (Tim); cousins, Amber Pope Perkins, Timothy Hal Pope Jr. and Corbin Scott Perkins, all of Statesville. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved dogs, Layla, Bella and Watson.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. No funeral will follow. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is serving the family.
