Donald “Boy” Ray Newsome, 54, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 23, 1969, in Johnston, N.C., to the late Donald Ray Newsome Sr. and Mary Overbee Stirewalt.

Donald enjoyed fishing, but his love was his grandchildren. Family was his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Newsome.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 34 years, Amy Souther Newsome; children, Shane Newsome and wife Courtney, Timothy Newsome and wife Emily, and Chyenne Keith and husband Austin; sister, Pam Blackwell and husband Harold; grandchildren, Caelyn, Ariel, Tatum, Lucas, Rachelle, and Braxton; stepfather, Don Stirewalt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, with Rev. Lloyd Jarvis and Rev. Mike Bruchette officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the funeral home.
