Special to Iredell Free News
Iredell County Animal Services will not hold its low-cost rabies clinic, which is held onsite the second Tuesday of each month, in April.
However, there will be plenty of other opportunities for residents to get their pets vaccinated for free in April, both at the shelter and an additional location on various dates.
Iredell County residents can bring their pets to the shelter on any Thursday during April for a free one-year (only) rabies vaccination between 12 and 5 p.m., with no appointment required.
All cats must be in carriers. Please limit one cat per carrier, and be prepared to wait for available Certified Rabies Vaccinators to assist you when you visit us for this service.. Limit two free vaccinations per household while supplies last.
Animal Services partners with Rescue Ranch
Outside of the Thursday offerings during the month of April, Animal Services is partnering with Rescue Ranch to offer yet an additional date and location to get your pets vaccinated. A free rabies drive-thru clinic at Rescue Ranch’s facility located at 1424 Turnersburg Highway in Statesville will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. At this clinic, pets can receive a free one-year rabies vaccine while supplies last. Please bring cats in carriers and limit to one cat per carrier.
Iredell County ordinance requires that all cats, dogs and ferrets over the age of three months must have a current rabies vaccination.
The second Tuesday drive-thru clinic’ at the shelter will resume on Tuesday, May 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. and will offer both one-year and three-year vaccines at a low cost.
