Trinity Episcopal Church will host a free community party to celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, April 21.
The Planet Party will be held at the church, located at 801 Henkel Road in Statesville, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Creation Care is a priority for the National Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. The National Church says, “In Jesus, God so loved the whole world. We follow Jesus, so we love the world God loves.”
All ages are invited to the party and can visit unique booths focusing on Creation Care. From planting stations and honey bees to saving the oceans and bird feeders, there’s something for everyone. There will even be a snowball fight, kite-flying, a one-foot hike, and tai chi practice.
A Planet Pledge will be available for party-goers to commit to their part in helping Earth be a little better for all of us.
“This is our first year hosting this party. We invite the community to come, play, and learn,” said Trinity’s Children and Youth Program Coordinator Jean Foster. “I’m personally interested in visiting the booth to learn how to make grass into a whistle!”
Father Brad Mullis invites the entire community to participate.
“We are all responsible for God’s creation and finding joy by celebrating the gifts God has given us!” he said. “We hope our community will join us for a fun afternoon that honors our planet and each other.”
The event will be held rain or shine. Andrea’s Ice Cream truck will be onsite for (cash only) purchases.
