Margaret Virginia Cloer Sharpe, 95, of Statesville, N.C., passed away April 25, 2024, at her home after an extended illness. Margaret was born October 23, 1928 in Iredell County to the late Noah Garland Cloer and Addie Bruce Cloer.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and retired from Uniglass Clark Schwebel after 44 years. She then worked for Wilson Security.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Eugene Sharpe Sr.; four brothers; one sister; and one nephew.

Survivors include one daughter Judith Ann Cartner Gentle of the home; one grandchild, Parianne Tilley and husband Terry of Statesville; four great-grandchildren, Dustin McGlamery (Valley), Haily McGlamery, Landon Tilley, and Koby Tilley; four great-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Asher, Gracie, and Kodie.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Brad Cartner and Mr. Walter Joyner will officiate. Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Special thanks to the Iredell County Detention Center and all staff.
