Mr. Edward Lee Holbrook, 96, of 621 East Sharpe Street, Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County on July 20, 1927, and was the son of the late Richard and Fannie Dalton Holbrook. He was married to Mary Dalton Holbrook, who preceded hime in death on August 31, 2004. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by three sons, Billy Ray Holbrook, Charles Richard Holbrook and Edward Lee Holbrook Jr. Mr. Holbrook passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Maple Leaf Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He attended the Iredell County Schools and prior to his retirement, he was employed by Barnhardt Furniture Company as a Finisher and Sander. He was a long-time member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and at one time he was the president of the Iredell Golfers Association.
He leaves to remember and celebrate the blessing of his life his children, Michael Wayne Holbrook and Robert Louis (Faye) Holbrook, both of Statesville, Sherry Holbrook (Delton) Atkinson of Durham and Linda Robert Louis (Faye) Holbrook Kiah of Raleigh; two daughters-in-law, Mary Holbrook of Statesville and Lori Holbrook and Anita “NeNe” Holbrook; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, Calvary Presbyterian Church Family, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, May 3, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church. Reverend Timothy Bates will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Mr. Holbrook will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 1:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
