Grace Ann Scalia Winters, 92, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born on May 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Guisseppe and Santa DeStefano Scalia. Mrs. Winters was retired from Lord & Taylor Department Store in Garden City, N.Y. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Christ Freeman Winters; son, Brian Winters; sister, Ida Scalia; and brother, Anthony Scalia.

She is survived by her children, Karen Kavanagh, Keith Winters and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Sean, Jacque, William, Melissa, Ryan, Caitlin, Kerri Ann, Daniel, Cayleigh, Tristan; and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, at St. Therese Catholic Church.
