Statesville resident Elijah Thompson has been awarded a scholarship by the Washington Crossing Foundation.
The foundation awarded $84,000 in national scholarships this year to high school seniors planning careers in government service.
A senior at Thompson Preparatory Academy, Thompson is the son of Dr. Chris and April Thompson. He received the Gregory Czura, Esq. Memorial Scholarship.
Thompson plans to attend Patrick Henry College, a private liberal arts Protestant Christian college in Purcellville, Va.
The scholarships are awarded annually to patriotic high school seniors dedicated to serving their school, their community and their country. This quality of service is exemplified by Gen. Washington
and his men in their heroic Crossing of the Delaware on Christmas night 1776.
A ceremony luncheon honoring the winners was held at the Washington Crossing Inn, Washington
Crossing, Pa.
