Beth Ellen Thomas, 43, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024, after a short, fierce and courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 26, 1980, in Salisbury, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Marvin “Tommy” Thomas and the late Rose “Ann” Barger Thomas. She was a 1998 graduate of Mooresville Senior High and later studied at Mitchell Community College and Pfeiffer University. She worked for many years in the before and after school program for Mooresville Graded School District. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a Deburring Technician with Structure Medical.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Laurie Ann Thomas; maternal grandparents, B.W. Barger and Laura Elizabeth Hess Barger; paternal grandmother, Lillian Booth Kiker; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Beth lived an extraordinary life of service to and reverence for those fortunate enough to earn her love, possessed a quick wit, was incredibly observant and thoughtful, and she had no idea how many hearts she filled with awe and gratitude.
Those left to cherish her memory include a brother, Doug Thomas; aunt, Carol Barger; cousins, Larry Barger, Dana Dyson, Brittany Bennett, Jovie and Luka Bennett, Brandy Compton and her children, Ashley Compton and her children, Bill, Linda, Michael, and Chad Harvey, Karen and Jim Bentley and their children, David March, Trish Hargraves and her children, Dawne Justice and her children, Jeff Shue; aunt, Sandy Aycoth, and a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Loving friends who brought smiles and comfort to Beth’s final weeks include Annie May Raby, Jeremiah Rogers, Caroline and David Borris and children, Melissa Snow, Melodie Camacho, Kyle Desalvo, Patty and Mike Schmid, and countless others who visited Beth, comforted her and contributed to her support.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with a service following at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Bentley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park.
Beth’s family and close friends want to thank the incredible caregivers and medical professionals at Novant Huntersville for providing compassionate, effective care, their bedside manner, effective communication, advocacy and partnership.
Memorials may be made to a hospice organization, charity serving children, or charity serving those with cancer, of the donor’s choice.
