Nathan Lucas Brawley, 15, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
He was born on March 21, 2009, in Iredell County, N.C., to Neel Brawley and Mandy Gambill Brawley. Lucas attended South Iredell High School. He also attended Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville, where he enjoyed going to the youth group. He also attended Grace Covenant Church and was loved by New River Calvary Church. He liked Legos, dinosaurs, Star Wars, riding four-wheelers and golf carts, reading, and talking. He enjoyed attending the Sheriff’s Teen Academy and the fire academy. Lucas was very caring, compassionate, responsible, protective, funny, a kind soul, and a great big brother. He loved and befriended everyone and loved cheering up others; he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his father, Neel Brawley (Diane Houston and her son, Luke); mother, Mandy Brawley (Juan Martinez and his children, Isabella and Austin); sister, Taylor Brawley; grandparents, Gene and Janice Brawley, Keith Gambill, Jeanne Coward (Sam), Mike and Christine Smith; aunts, Kristin Winslow (Thomas), Julie Wyatt (Duck), Heather Ham (Keith), Liz Coward, and Amanda Zuidema (Storm); first cousins, Blaine Winslow, Noah Winslow, Grayson Payne, Mei Li Winslow, Ethan Wyatt, Parker Wyatt, and Ashton Zuidema; and numerous other cousins and extended family.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
