Congressman Patrick McHenry announced Friday that Mooresville resident Rehanna Yakubu as the winner of 2024 Congressional Art Competition for her acrylic work, “Soeur – En Passant.”
“It is my honor to recognize Rehanna for her outstanding work,” McHenry said. “As the final Art Competition winner of my tenure in Congress, I am proud to have her artwork represent the Tenth District in the U.S. Capitol.
“Congratulations to Rehanna on this tremendous achievement. I look forward to welcoming her to Washington for the Congressional Art Competition Reception in June.”
Yakubu’s artwork will be prominently displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside the winning pieces from each Congressional district and she will be invited to attend the Congressional Art Competition Reception in Washington, D.C.
The Congressional Art Competition is a privately-funded competition with support from the Congressional Institute. Since the competition began in 1982, over 650,000 high school students have participated in the competition.
