Arlie Clyde Absher, 82, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at his residence. Born April 18, 1942 in Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Lester Absher and Beatrice Combs Absher.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Church Absher; son, Jeffrey Absher; three sisters, Eunice Shepherd, Vida Pearson and Lockie Wagoner; and one brother, Ray Absher.
Arlie was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher. He was the part-president of V-Point Ruritan Club; and also served as chairman of the NC Association of Education Support Personnel. He worked several years at West Iredell High School and retired from Iredell-Statesville Schools.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Joey (Dawn) Absher of Olin and Regina Brennan of Statesville; granddaughter, Mary Absher; great-grandson, Brody Johnson; and one great-granddaughter on the way.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Fairmount United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at the church with Minister Brenda Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
