Larry Dale Campbell, 79, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1945, in Monroe, N.C., to the late Marvin and Gladys Price Campbell.
He was the owner and operator of Larry Campbell’s Towing & Recovery, Inc. for 55 years. Larry was an avid race fan of Dale Earnhardt, and he himself raced the #65 Chevelle at the Starlite Speedway in Monroe, N.C., in the late ’60s and early ’70s. His love for Towing & Recovery started in Monroe in 1969 and later moved to the Charlotte area, where it has grown to what it is today. He was known and respected by many of his peers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister, Doris Ann Campbell; and grandsons, Joshua William Beck and Luke Taylor Booth.
Those left to cherish Larry’s memory are his loving wife of 10 years, Edith Howell Campbell; two daughters, Nancy Campbell Beck and Teresa Campbell Vanderlip (Marty); step-daughter, Debbie Ingram; two brothers, Johnny Campbell (Doris) and Dennis Campbell (Sue); four grandchildren, Wesley (Jake) Booth, Brittany B. Russ (Trevor), Clinton Dillow, and Brandon Dillow; two step-grandchildren, Mark Overcash and Brooke Ingram; and eight great-grandchildren, Sadie and Blake Beck, Avery, Aubrey and Noah Booth, and Rylan, Jaxton, and Cambrie Russ; and a very special care-giver, Andrea Coleman; and his best doggie friend, Little Buddy Boy.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Hamara Officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
