We mourn the loss of another member of the great generation as Eloise Little Cook (Nootsie), 94, of Statesville, N.C., died Friday, May 31, 2024.
Mrs. Cook was born in Iredell County on July 18, 1929, and was the youngest daughter of Joseph Reather Little and Monnie Leab Little.
She attended and graduated from Scotts High School in 1947 where she excelled in basketball as captain and was very proud of the time she played for the Panthers. She was married to Willard David Cook on September 3, 1948, and embarked on a long career of children, homemaking, and assisting with the family business. She loved to cook and the door was always open to welcome anyone wanting a glass of tea or something to eat. Eloise was a lifelong member of Concord Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Harry Little, Mack Little, Cecil Little, Bill Little, Clarence Little, Herman Little, and Charlie Little; and one sister, Allain Griggs. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Edward Cook and James William Cook; one granddaughter, Michelle Cook; and one great-grandson, Robert Allen Webster.
She is survived by three sons, Michael David Cook (Teresa), Daniel Stephen Cook (Kathy) and Jeffrey Alan Cook (Sandi) and daughters-in-law Bonnie Privette Cook and Susan Davis Cook. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Eloise is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Troutman Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, June 4, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Concord Presbyterian Church in the Loray Community.
Interment will follow in the Concord Presbyterian Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Ben Cook, Matt Cook, Bryan Cook, Andrew Cook, Doug Cook, and Brandon Cook.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to Concord Presbyterian Church.
