Lucy Ball Rash, 89, of Statesville, N.C. passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House following a period of declining health. Born April 29, 1935, in Surry County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Clyde Ball and Rema Hudson Ball.
She was a graduate of Elkin High School in Elkin, N.C., in 1953. On June 7, 1958, she was married to Wayne Rash, who survives. She was a legal secretary and had worked with Attorney John Massey for a number of years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesville, N.C.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister, Maretha Ball Carter.
Along with her husband, Lucy is survived by a sister, Betsy B. Mize of Lancaster, S.C., and a brother, Rev. Clyde Ball Jr. (Lillian) of Advance, N.C. She is further survived by six nieces, one nephew, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends Monday, June 17, 2024, in the Adams Hall at First Baptist Church from 1 until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Nelson Granade officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
