Josephine Adams Millsaps, 90, of Hiddenite, N.C., passed away on June 13, 2024, at her home after an extended illness.
Josephine was born September 5, 1933, in Alexander County to the late Charlie Harvey Adams and Florence Mayberry Adams. She was a housewife and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Josephine loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Clyde Allen “Tom” Millsaps; four brothers, Allie, Ruben, Grady and Paul Adams; one infant brother; and four sisters, Nellie, Gilland, Lois Sharpe and Christine Harris.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Millsaps and wife Melanie of Hiddenite and Barry Millsaps and wife Karen of Hiddenite; one daughter Cathy Chatham and husband Tommy of Hiddenite; nine grandchildren, Travis Chatham (Tracy), Trent Chatham (Dana), Trevor Chatham (Traci), Jackie Millsaps (Jeremey), Jason Milsaps (Shelley), Amy Hall (Adam), Kalyn Petriella (Katie), Joey Petriella, and Nicky Petriella (Rebekah); eighteen great-grandchildren, Tanna, Trace, Taylor (Nathan), Tate, Tara, Tylie, Tessa, TJ, Tinley, Sayge, Chesnie (Carson), Trenton, Carlie, Kendra, Luke, Lanie, Rayleigh, and Jacob; three great-great grandchildren, Zoe, Kadelynn and Brody; and one sister, Patty Payne of Hiddenite.
The pallbearers are Travis Chatham, Trent Chatham, Trevor Chatham, Jason Millsaps, Adam Hall and Jeremey Potter.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church. Rev. Durant Barr will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
