Joe Thomas Little, 75, of Statesville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Monday June 17, 2024, at his home. Joe was born October 3,1948, in Iredell County to the late Edward “Ed” Dean Little and Flossie Warren Little.

Joe served in Vietnam as a Sergeant for the United States Army. He received multiple medals for his service. He worked and retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections as a correction officer. He also worked alongside his father as a brick mason. Joe enjoyed hunting and raising bird dogs for many years. He was a faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Summers Little of the home; two daughters, Laura Brookshire and husband Brad of Hiddenite, N.C., and Melissa Lowder of Fort Mill, S.C.; one sister, Jennie Comer of Asheboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jeb Brookshire, Faith B. Cook and husband Timmy, and Jesse Lowder.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rights. Dr. Sam Vallini will officiate. There will be no formal visitation. Memorials may be given to Freedom Baptist Church, P.O. Box 249, Hiddenite, NC, 28636.
