The Extension Master Garden Volunteer Association of Iredell County has awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Karleigh Dalrymple, a 2024 graduate of North Iredell High School. She plans to pursue a degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University in the fall.
The scholarship presentation was made at the association’s summer social.
“I am grateful to this organization for selecting me,” said Karleigh. “There is a need for innovations in agriculture to address the rapidly growing population. It’s the reason I chose this for my major. This field will give me an opportunity to make a difference.”
Stephen Kuffler, association president, said the community’s support of the annual Garden Fair helps fund the scholarship.
“Proceeds from this event and other activities fund our scholarship program,” he said.
The scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior or current full-time college student in good standing with a 3.0 or higher GPA. To qualify, a student must be an Iredell County resident who is planning or currently enrolled in an agricultural or horticulture program at an accredited North Carolina college/university, community college, or certification program.
The Extension Master Garden Volunteer Association of Iredell County is approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
