Harley McCorkle, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on June 26, 2024.

Born in Mooresville, N.C,, on August 9, 1967, Harley graduated from Mooresville High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Montreat College. He furthered his education at Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, where he completed the Executive Education Program. Harley recently celebrated 37 years with Duke Energy, where he was VP of Operations in Indiana.

Harley was known for his big personality and ability to light up any room. He was personable and thoughtful, always treating everyone like family. Harley was brilliant, determined, characterized by his forward-thinking and courageous spirit. His love for cooking, landscaping, and handiness showcased his creative talents, while his sense of humor and servant leadership demonstrated his caring nature.

Throughout his life, Harley was deeply committed to empowering and impacting countless lives through his unwavering dedication to serving any community he was a part of. His benevolent efforts were a testament to him fulfilling the calling God had bestowed upon him, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and generosity that touched countless lives.

Harley was preceded in death by his father, Hubert McCorkle Jr.; mother, Verline Norman
McCorkle; and sister, Sandra McCorkle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Michon McCorkle; son, Alex Harley McCorkle; siblings, Hubert Alexander McCorkle, Michelle McCorkle Haynes (Thomas), and Teresa Rena McCorkle; niece, Chelsea Renae McCorkle; and nephew, Miles McCorkle.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, July 6, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Sills Creek AME Zion Church, 3165 Bradshaw Road, Mooresville, N.C. A Celebration of Harley’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sills Creek AME Zion Church Building Fund.
