Mr. Stephen DiVincent Reaves, 66, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Iredell County, N.C., on December 29, 1957, and was the son of the late Frank Summers Reaves and Margaret Elizabeth Smith Reaves.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Tyran “Packy” Reaves; and a grandson, Cyrus Reaves.

Steve, as he was affectionately called, was a graduate of Statesville High School. He attended Mitchell Community College, where he completed basic law enforcement training. He loved motorcycles, playing cards and dominoes, and he was an avid lover of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life one daughter, Tiana (Damin) Harris of Troutman; five sons, Stephen (Dedra) Reaves II of the home, Ri’Shon Leazer of Mooresville, Nickolas Reaves of Harmony, Shawn Reaves of Sherrills Ford and Bryson (Nessa) Mabe of Statesville; three sisters, Margo Lackey, Chrystal Hall and Tammi Minor, all of Statesville; one sister-in-law, Dorothea Garrett Reaves; two uncles, Kenneth Smith and Ray Smith; two aunts, Wanda Smith and Jannett Smith; eight grandchildren, Kauvae Alexander, Deshawn Harris, Jayda Harris, Kinstin Reaves, Bryson Wynn, Shoniya Leazer, Kennedy Leazer and Javean Phifer; brother/cousin, Darrell Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m.
