EnergyUnited awards grants totaling $20,000 to three local nonprofits

EnergyUnited has awarded grants to three local nonprofit organizations as part of CoBank’s Sharing Success Program.

This year grants, totaling $20,000, have been awarded to the Ada Jenkins Center, the EnergyUnited Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina.

The Ada Jenkins Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families in need through comprehensive support services, received a $5,000 grant. The EnergyUnited Foundation, which focuses on helping individuals, families and non-profits meet housing, utility and humane needs also received a $5,000 grant. Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina, an organization committed to building affordable housing and creating opportunities for families to achieve strength, stability, and independence through homeownership, was awarded a $10,000 grant.

Each of these organizations play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals and families in our community,” said LaQuisha Parks, vice president of energy services and corporate communications for EnergyUnited. “EnergyUnited is dedicated to supporting our communities, and these grants are a testament to that commitment.”

CoBank is a $160 billion cooperative bank serving vital industries across rural America. The bank provides loans, leases, export financing and other financial services to agribusinesses and rural power, water and communications providers in all 50 states.

The Ada Jenkins Center exists to help people in Davidson and surrounding communities create lasting solutions for health, education, and economic stability. EnergyUnited Foundation

The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded non-profit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. More than 80,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support individuals, families, and nonprofit organizations with essential needs.

Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina

Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
