Lynn Mayes White went to his eternal home on July 31, 2024. Born on June 22, 1931, in Hiddenite, N.C., Lynn was the youngest of nine children of Henry Marvin and Dorcas Meadows White.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; his wife, Lexine Allen White; his eight siblings (Grady White, Ida Mitchell, Ruth Meadows, Eva Childers, Tressie Morrison, Escar White, Veryl White and James White), and his granddaughter, Amber Davis.

He is survived by his son, Tim White (Jackie); his daughter, Nancy Moore (Bill Moore); his grandchildren, Jennifer Anselmo (Jay), Brandon White (Bobby Cook), Adrianne Blackwelder (Adam), and Derek Davis (Heather); and his nine great-grandchildren, Noah, Nora, and Reid Davis, Braelyn, Emmalyn, and Grady Blackwelder, and Will, Kylie, and Reese Jacobs.

Lynn was married to the love of his life and best friend for 71 years. They were married just before he joined the Navy, where he served from 1952 to 1956 in the Korean War. Lynn loved and served his wife Lexine with a beautiful example of Christ-like love until the day she passed away in October 2022. Their love endured through good times and through difficulty, and they never failed to credit their Lord for their successes. He retired from Tarheel Lumber in Statesville in 1993.

Together, Lynn and Lexine built a family they were proud of, and he was always happy to share of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who bore his namesake. Because of the example he lived, Lynn led others to Christ and prayed with and for family members and friends as they strengthened their relationship with the Lord.

Lynn was always a phone call away and would drop everything to lend a hand. Whether babysitting grands and later great grands, mowing yards for family and neighbors, teaching and supporting budding gardeners, or providing sound, trusted advice, you could always count on him. He loved buying and selling antiques and was an expert “clock man.”

In recent months, Lynn would end every phone call with the reminder that, “I love you, and all your family.” He knew this was something we all knew well but took every opportunity to remind us. While those who know him will miss him immensely, we are comforted in the knowledge that he is with our Lord and, one day, we will be reunited.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, at 2 p.m. at Western Avenue Baptist Church, with a service following at 3 p.m. Rev. Jeff Spry and Adam Blackwelder will officiate, and burial will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Active and honorary pallbearers will be Bill Moore, Adam Blackwelder, Derek Davis, Jay Anselmo, Noah Davis, Reid Davis, Will Jacobs, Reese Jacobs, Rick Shuford, and Grady Blackwelder.
