Mr. Frederick Leonard Scott Sr., 71, of Troutman, N.C., passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Compass Health Care Rehabilitation in Spencer, N.C., following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County, N.C., on June 5, 1953, and was the son of the late Horace Smith and Annie Ruth Scott.

“Freddie,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a graduate of Harding High School. He served in the United States Army. Freddie worked for several news stations, including Channel 4 News in Milwaukee, WXII News in Winston-Salem, Channel 9 Eyewitness News in Charlotte, as a cameraman and later became a car salesman. He will be truly missed.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life three sons, Frederick Scott Jr., Roderick Davis and Joshua Scott; two daughters, Tasha Looper of Charlotte and Jewell Scott; two brothers, Shawn (Tonya Hamilton) Scott of Troutman and Roger (Sondra) Smith of Statesville; three sisters, Ginia Scott, Lorna (Rev. Robert) Ramseur and Denise (Gary) Feimster, all of Statesville; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and dear friends.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, August 3, 2024, 1 p.m. at Zion Wesley AME Zion Church. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
