Marjorie Craven Carson, 97, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at her home. Marjorie was born May 16, 1927, in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Paul Aaron Craven and Izetta Spicer Craven.

She was a homemaker and was the assistant to her husband Lester, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Marjorie was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, and taking care of the grandchildren.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lester Edward Carson; her sisters, Myrtle Carson, Helen McClure, and Emma Jean Burgess; and a grandson, Rev. Steven Allen Carson.

Those left to cherish and honor Marjorie’s memories include her children, Lester Steven Carson (Mavis) of Taylorsville, and Roger Dale Carson (Susan) of Vale; her sisters, Clide Brock of Moravian Falls, Barbara Cooper (Frank) of North Wilkesboro; her grandchildren, Kelly Carson (Jane) of Hiddenite, Shawn Carson (Becky) of Statesville, Lesley Gaither of Panama City Beach, Fla., AJ Carson of the Bethlehem Community, Matthew Carson of Tennessee, Tanya Sigmon of Virginia, Kasey Caldwell (Jamie) of Buford, Ga.; her great-grandchildren, Spencer Black, Jacob Carson, Joshua Carson, Colby Caldwell, Jacob Brown, and Lucius Brown; her granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Carson; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Rocky Face Baptist Church. Rev. Ryan Hodges, Rev. Tim Jolly, Rev. Travis Brown, and Rev. Jeff Carson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers include: Nicky Canter, Matthew Carson, Shawn Carson, Kelly Carson, Jacob Carson, and Jamie Caldwell.
