Danny Denver Matney, 79, of Kings Mountain, N.C., passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Born, May 26, 1945, he was the son of the late Edward Matney and Ila Matney. He was an avid fisherman and camper. He was a baseball enthusiast, specifically for the Atlanta Braves. He loved taking trips to the mountains with Diane by his side. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his significant other of 22 years, Diane Spencer; his children, Daniel Lee Matney, Tammy Matney Potts, Danna Wilson and her husband Chris Wilson, Darin Spencer, and Bethany S. Reel; three sisters and two brothers; a sister-in-law; and his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward Matney and Ila Matney, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and a sister.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel located at 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658. The Celebration of Life will be at  2 p.m. followed by the burial at Jenkins Funeral Home Cemetery.
