Barbara Jacqueline “Jackie” Stewart Fox, 94, of Statesville, N.C., died Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Brookdale Peachtree after a period of declining health.

Born in Iredell County on February 23, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harvey E. Stewart and Cleo Morrow Stewart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard “Buck” Fox; and two sisters, Betty Warren and Lois Isenhour.

Jackie was a lifelong member of New Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping, yard sales, cooking, going out to eat and to singings with the “Eufola Girls.” For many years, she was a cook at Sunshine Restaurant on Oakland Avenue.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Johnny Fox (Diana); two brothers, Joe Stewart (Linda) and Donald Stewart (Brenda); and several nieces and nephews; along with special cousins, Audrey and Roger Crider.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, August 15, at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason and Pastor Roger Crider officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service at the church from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
