Delores Clardy, 84, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. She was born on April 17, 1940, in Vicksburg, Miss., to Rev. H. Matthew Beecham and Esther M. Beecham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Charles Wilbur Beecham.
Delores is survived by her children, Paula Beecham, Teresa Clardy, and Tyrone P. Clardy Sr.; grandchildren, Alex Clardy, Michael Jones, Tyrone P. Clardy Jr., Shante Clardy-Rodarte, Sean Dickey, and Vanessa Clardy; and seven great grandchildren.
Delores was a very accomplished and independent woman, and a very devoted friend. She worked for Boeing in Southern California, retiring after over 35 years of employment. She was an avid reader and an author of two books, “Tiger Questions U” and “Brain Surgery and Recovery from a Patient’s Point of View.” She survived two brain surgeries and was a two-time breast cancer survivor.
She was an excellent cook, so much so that for years she would make burritos and sell them to her co-workers. She was also very artistic and had a great sense of fashion; she made macramé keychains, and would sew her own clothes and wear them to work the next day.
Delores was a member of Highland Acres Church of Christ in Statesville. As a child she was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wis., where her father, Rev. H. M. Beecham, was a prominent pastor. The Rev. H. Matthew Beecham Education Facility is still located across the street from the church and represents how much the community appreciated the hard work and dedication of the family.
Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ms. Clardy.
