Stanley “Stan” Fleming Goodman, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024. He was born on July 28, 1943, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Dennis and Ruby Compton Goodman.

Stanley was a man who loved his church, his savior, Jesus Christ, and his family. He was known as a caring, loving man who gave his time and talents to anyone in need.

Stan was a 1961 graduate of West Rowan High School. He loved old cars, especially his three-window ’34 Ford Coupe. As a general contractor, Stan built many homes in the Mooresville area as well as several at Carolina Beach, N.C. In addition to his contractor license, he held licenses in plumbing and HVAC. He built the family “Beach House” in 1976. He was very proud of it, and overjoyed when it was used in the filming of the movie, “Nights of Rodanthe.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Overcash Goodman; and his brother, Jerry Wayne Goodman.

Those left to cherish Stan’s memory are his daughter, Paula Goodman Lodge; son, Scott Fleming Goodman (Paula Blackwelder Goodman); brother, Joel Lynn Goodman (Angela Yvonne Goodman); sister-in-law, Kathy Barnes Goodman; granddaughters, Brooke Renee Goodman, Margaret Ann Boyd (Eliot), Katherine Scarlett Lodge, Natalie Susann Nance (Blake), and Hannah Clarke Lodge.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.

The Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Amity Lutheran Church, Cleveland, N.C., with Deacon GeoRene Jones and Minister Mark Howell officiating.

Anyone with a classic car can meet at the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. to join the procession to the church. Stanley’s body will be carried by a restored 1976 hearse that picked up Elvis Presley’s body after his death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amity Lutheran Church, 1367 Ostwalt Amity Road, Cleveland, NC 27013.
