Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Amber Marie McCoy, 26, of River Hill Road, Statesville, and Anthony Mack Dorland, 43, of 4th Street SW, Hickory, in a news release.

Just after midnight on Saturday, August 17, Deputy M. Sharpe responded to a tip that came in via the ICSO app about a stolen vehicle located at the Motel 7 on Greenland Drive, Campbell said. After arriving at the motel, Deputy Sharpe located a blue Dodge Challenger and confirmed that it had been reported stolen in Indiana, according to the news release.

Deputies reviewed surveillance footage that showed a white female, identified as McCoy, exiting the solen Dodge Charger with a white male passenger, identified as Dorland, and entering a room in the motel less than two hours earlier, the sheriff said.

Deputies then learned that McCoy and Dorland had outstanding warrants for their arrest in Catawba County, according to the news release.

Deputies approached the room and knocked on the door. After a couple of minutes, McCoy opened the door and was placed under arrest.

Dorland was found hiding under a bed and was also taken into custody, Campbell said.

Both McCoy and Dorland were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Magistrate Nicholson ordered McCoy held without bond on the charge of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle. She received a $2,000 bond on the outstanding warrant for her arrest on a warrant charging her with felony possession of methamphetamine.

Dorland was served with an outstanding warrant for arrest for felony probation violation. He received a $10,000 bond.
