Ralph David Pomarico, 91, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly a lifelong resident of Glenham, N.Y., passed away at his home in Mooresville on August 23, 2024, surrounded by his wife and two children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rose Marie (Cucci); and their two children, daughter Lisa Patterson and son Anthony (partner Darlene Antous); granddaughters; Courtney Patterson, Ashley Piper her husband Jacob; and grandson, Nicolas Pomarico; great grandchildren (Pieper), Wyatt, Elsa, Calvin and June; and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was the son of late Joesph and Mary (Lukach) Pomarico and was preceded in death by brothers, James and Donald; and sisters, Loretta Simko, Carol Morrone and Anna Pomarico.

Ralph served his country in the U.S. Army with pride and honor and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he was decorated for his bravery and his contributions as an MP supporting the frontline troops. Prior to enlisting in the Army, he was scouted by the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Organization. Aside from his family, baseball (and all sports) was his second love.

He was involved in sports his entire life, playing baseball, basketball and later in life, he and his wife were avid golfers.

Ralph was a man who was devoted to his family. He always had a jovial spirit and could bring a smile to everyone he met. His sense of humor was infectious, and he will be remembered for his kindness and larger-than-life heart.

Ralph retired after thirty-six years from the New York State Corrections Department, where he was a Corrections Officer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for immediate family and friends in his home state of New York.

In lieu of flowers or other sympathy contributions, Ralph and his family would be honored if donations could be made to an American Veterans organization.
