The Iredell County Community Foundation recently awarded $160,554 in grants to 26 nonprofits. The grants will support projects and programs that address education, mental health, human services, veteran affairs, and workforce development in Iredell County.
Grants from this cycle include $12,000 to FeedNC to provide life skills and training to join the workforce; $10,000 to Moorseville Area Christian Mission to help prevent homelessness through rental assistance; and $12,500 to HealthReach Community Clinic to provide free mental health services to Iredell County residents.
“HealthReach is incredibly grateful to be the recipient of funding from the Iredell County Community Foundation, which will help to support mental health programming for our patients,” said Angela McMillan, executive director at HealthReach Community Clinic. “Since 2003, we have been improving the health and well-being of our neighbors in need. With this generous support from the Foundation, HealthReach is empowered to continue developing our mental health initiatives, fostering resilience and healing among those we serve.”
The Iredell County Community Foundation is a regional affiliate of Charlotte-based Foundation For The Carolinas. The grants were awarded by the ICCF’s local board of advisors as part of an annual grantmaking program. The Foundation has invested more than $2.9 million in projects and programs that support Iredell County residents since 1998.
“The needs of Iredell County continue to grow in many important areas,” said Iredell County Board Chair Doug McCracken. “The Foundation is pleased to be able to support so many capable and committed nonprofit organizations in Iredell County working hard to fulfill these needs. They are making a huge difference.”
The Iredell County Community Foundation’s 2024 grant awards include:
• $2,500 to Autism Society of North Carolina to support Autism Resource Specialists in Iredell County;
• $10,000 to Boys & Girls Club of the Piedmont to support after-school and summer programs for
Iredell County youth;
• $10,000 to Children’s Hope Alliance to provide outpatient therapy services for Iredell County children
and families;
• $3,500 to Classroom Central to provide school supplies to students and teachers in the Iredell-Statesville School District;
• $5,000 to Fifth Street Ministries to support their Community Food Box Program that delivers food to
those in need;
• $12,000 to FeedNC to support the culinary and warehouse workforce development training and job
placement program;
• $2,500 to Foundation of Hope Ministries, Inc. to provide essential services to the most vulnerable
citizens who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness;
• $5,000 for Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region to help support the new homeownership
program in Mooresville;
• $12,500 to HealthReach Community Clinic to provide free mental health services to Iredell County
residents in need;
• $2,554 to Hope of Mooresville for their workforce development program;
• $10,000 to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County to help support Rainbow Kidz, a grief
counseling and education program for Iredell County children ages 5 to 18;
• $6,000 to I-CARE, Inc. to offer workforce development opportunities in high-demand careers to Iredell
County adults;
• $5,000 to Iredell Friends of the Library to provide digital literacy and workforce development
education to residents of Iredell County;
• $5,000 to LifeSpan Services to support the Pre-K Summer Program, which prepares students to be
more successful in school and helps prevent summer learning loss;
• $10,000 to Mooresville Area Christian Mission to provide crisis rental assistance to families in
Southern Iredell County;
• $3,000 to North Carolina Symphony to support a music education concert for Iredell County students;
• $10,000 to Pharos Parenting to provide a bilingual parent aide to teach parenting skills in Spanish;
• $7,500 to Piedmont Veterans Assistance Council for their veteran transportation program;
• $5,000 to Power Cross to support one-on-one and small group tutoring in math and reading for K-12
students;
• $8,000 to Purple Heart Homes to build wheelchair-accessible ramps for Iredell County veterans as
part of the Veterans Aging in Place program;
• $5,000 to Safe Surfin’ Foundation for Cyber S.W.A.T., an educational program that teaches youth
about online safety;
• $2,500 to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc. to provide beds and bedding for Iredell County residents in
need;
• $5,000 to Speak Life and Live to support the GEMS and GENTS camps and workshops, which focus
on literacy, math and fostering healthy habits;
• $3,000 to Special Treasures of Iredell County, Inc. to support youth aging out of the foster care
system;
• $5,000 to Iredell County Crosby Scholars Community Partnership to provide academic, personal,
career, and college readiness programming for high school students in Iredell County; and
• $5,000 to Veterans Bridge Home to coordinate care for Iredell County veterans including healthcare,
employment, housing, education and social capital, among other needs.
