Mollie Margaret Fletcher Rary, 95, peacefully joined her precious Lord and Savior and her family in
her heavenly home at her home on Friday morning, August 30, 2024. She was a loving and devoted
wife, mother, mother-in-law, mummum, daughter, sister, and friend. If you knew her, you loved her and she loved you.

She was born in Avery County, N.C., on September 15, 1928, to James Paul Fletcher and Doxie Daniels Fletcher, who both preceded her in death. She married Robert Elmore Rary on June 3, 1950 and shared 67 years of marriage before his passing on December 16, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her three precious brothers, Paul H. (Sonny) Fletcher, James Randall Fletcher and Galen Daniel Fletcher; along with her sister-in-law, Anne S. Fletcher.

Mollie graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tenn., and Mitchell Community College. She worked at JC Penney Warehouse and cherished her friends she made there. She also worked at Piece Goods Shop and Home Bakery. She was an active member of Pressly Memorial A.R.P. Church, where she served in the Women of the Church, Circle member, Sunday School teacher and many other roles.

Mollie is survived by her two loving daughters, Pamela Rary Ostwalt (Robert) and Gayle Rary Crater (Greg); her grandchildren, Brandon Robert Ostwalt (Wayne), Stephanie Margaret Crater (Tyler Belt) and Jacob Gregory Crater (Danielle Teel), who were the light of her life. Also surviving are her loving sisters-in-law, Katy Robbins Fletcher and Frances Grindstaff Fletcher; and many precious nieces, nephews and cousins.

A very special thank you to her precious caregivers, Mary Parlier, Lillian Lackey, Joan Johnson, Betty Privette, Stephanie Crater and Tyler Belt, who went above and beyond in caring for her.

Mollie’s Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Pressly Memorial A.R.P. Church with Rev. Mark Tankersley and Rev. Chuck Sammons officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Pallbearers will be Edward Fletcher, Robyn Fletcher, Galen Fletcher, Lee Fletcher, Jimmy Fletcher, Brandon Ostwalt, Jacob Crater and Tyler Belt.
