Claire Werthwein Pleiss, 70, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024.

She was born on January 11, 1954, in North Plainfield, N.J., to the late Christian and Rita Mullady Werthwein. Claire received her master’s degree in Speech Pathology and spent 40 years as a Speech Pathologist, recently retiring from CMC-Union in Monroe. She enjoyed volunteering with numerous different organizations but currently with FeedNC. Claire started a Stroke Club, where she worked with stroke victims and focused on their needs. Her favorite and happy place was to be at the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew “Andy” Pleiss; children, Patrick A. Pleiss (Lauren) and Katie Kotsbak (Kristian); grandchildren, Clark, Klein, Caroline, Lucy, and Magnus; sisters, Kathy Klimas (John), Joan End (Mike), and Patty Frazer (Jim); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Chaplain Eddie Karriker officiating.
