Eva Jane Black, 81, of Cleveland, N.C., passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024. She was born on May 27, 1943 in Raleigh, W.Va., to Clarence R. Bower and Alka Bays Bower. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gid Dane Black Jr.; four infant grandchildren; great grandson, Chandler Tatum; great granddaughter, Ameila Guest; four infant great grandchildren; and 16 siblings.

She is survived by her children, Gid Black III and wife Ann of Statesville, Lisa Cochran and husband Jiles of Cleveland, Rhoda Black and fiancé Bruce Barker of Harmony, and Rhonda Reaves and husband Jerry of Salisbury; grandchildren, Justin Cochran, Christopher Black, Jessica Tatum, Koren Guest, Dylan Wyles, Michael Atkinson, Brandy Black, Leo Black, Lauren Wyles, Dane Wyles, and Robert Banks III; 22 great grandchildren; and two siblings.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Black’s funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Park.
