Cedric Anthony Steele, 64, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House. A native of Iredell County, he was born on October 20, 1959, to Clarence Steele Jr. and the late Dorothy Frances Redmon Steele.
In addition to his mother, Cedric was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Wilson.
Cedric was full of life and loved horses, dogs, fishing, hunting and fast cars. He was also a talented artist, loving to draw. He graduated from North Iredell High School.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Wanda Wilson Steele; his sons, Ahmad Rashad Stevenson and Cedric Anthony Steele II, both of Statesville; his daughter, Whitney Steele (Blair) of Mooresville; three grandchildren, Ahmad Rashad Stevenson Jr., Blaizer Boler, and Takalyn Stevenson; his sisters, Juanita Sharpe (Demond) of Statesville and Melissa Thomas of Charlotte; his mother-in-law, Frances Wilson; by his sisters-in-law, Elaine Rankin, Priscilla Holbrook (Louis), Andrea Houston (Melvin), and Demetra Sadler (Ricky); special friends, Roy Holmes and Willie Allison; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
A visitation for Cedric will be held Friday, September 20, 2024, from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 968 Triplett Road in Cleveland, N.C., followed by a homegoing service at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Maurice Lackey officiating. Cedric will be laid to rest in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Cleveland, N.C.
Serving as pallbearers are Micheal Holmes, Jamie Steele, Jimmy Steele, Neil Dalton, Kmark Allison, and Charles Mills. Flower bearers will be Joetta Allison, Charlene Allison, Demetrius Steele, Sherrie Grinton, Josephine Miller, Debra Mills and Janice Steele.
