Emmett Thompson Head, 79, of Olin, N.C., died September 14, 2024, at his home. Born in Alexander County on November 8, 1944, he was a son of the late Eugene Head and Alta Mae Davis Head. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Clanton and Lou-Alta Stone, and his fishing buddy, Frank Johnson

He was a master carpenter, and he taught carpentry at North Iredell High School, retiring in 2004. He was a volunteer fireman for the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, bluegrass music, gardening and hot rods and owned an El Camino. Emmett was good-hearted and always helped others. He also loved his dog, Lizzie.

On the day he died he had a great great niece born, Wren Lawless.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jayne Feimster Head; sons, Justin Head (Cassie) and Mike Head (Kelly); a daughter, Jessica Hoeflick (Hale); one grandchild, Lillian Hoeflick; his favorite sister-in-law, Susan Johnson (Mark); his nieces, Amy and his favorite Jeanna; and his great niece Karlee; and great nephews, Kaleb, Jacob and Charlie. Also surviving is his best friend, Frank Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Union Grove Christian Church with Pastor Bradley Daniels, Jeanna Gatton and Jeff Medlin officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
