Lucretia Eloise Hope Wilson Thompson, 77, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, September 20, 2024. She was born on January 11, 1947, in Mooresville to the late Willie H. Wilson and Dorothy Starnes Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald H. Wilson.

Those left to cherish Hope’s memory are her husband of 55 years, Harry Wayne Thompson; daughter, Angela H. Thompson; and son, Joseph W. Thompson (Emily).

She was a graduate of Mooresville Senior High, Class of 1965, and Carolina Cosmetology, and she attended Mitchell Community College. Hope worked for General Time of Davidson, Draymore in Mooresville, and as a hairdresser part time. She retired from Bellsouth.

She loved the Lord Jesus and church was very important to her. She worshipped at Rockwell Baptist Church in Mooresville for many years, Unity Baptist Church in Lenoir while living in the mountains and as of late Liberty Baptist Church in Mooresville.

Hope was a loving and very friendly person to everyone, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She had a strong will and never compromised her faith-based beliefs. Reading was her favorite pastime; crocheting was fun to her until she lost sight in her right eye.

Hope loved fun, ATV riding with family and friends in the mountains, beach trips with the family and her Air Force friends and cruising. She loved animals, especially dogs and bears. She had lots and lots of Teddy Bears. Bird watching was her a favorite pastime. Hope liked to hike but she got slower and slower. Finally, her great heart gave up.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Park, Statesville, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church.

A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses for all the kindness and hard work at Novant Health and Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County.
