With heavy hearts we bid farewell to our beloved son, Matthew Reece Eulitt, who departed from this world on September 17, 2024, at the age of 37. Matthew was a loving, kind person who, during his short journey on earth, touched many lives and his absence leaves a void in our hearts.

Born August 19, 1987, in Charlotte, N.C., he moved with his family to Mooresville, N.C., in 1992, where he grew up. He graduated from Mooresville High School. He briefly worked at Starbucks before moving to Statesville, N.C., where he worked at Papa John’s and Taco Bell for a few years before moving to Morganton, N.C., to become a rural postal carrier. He made full-time status in 2021. He was very proud of this accomplishment.

Matthew loved music and was a gifted pianist. He loved to play classical music and composed some of his own pieces. He had a passion for food, both cooking and eating. He loved cooking for other people, but you might have to have a strong stomach because he loved everything hot and spicy. He was an avid game player since childhood; he loved board games like chess, Risk, and Axis and Allies, video games for every platform, and especially enjoyed playing online video games with his brother.

He was a hugger, loved giving and receiving hugs, and loved giving to people to bring a little joy into their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ward M. Eulitt; his maternal grandmother, Jane West; maternal grandfather, Jack West; paternal grandmother, Ellen Ward Eulitt; and paternal grandfather, Jack Eulitt.

Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy include his mother and step-father, Andrea and Larry Gregory of Salisbury, N.C.; daughter, Bella (Eulitt) Gregory of Salisbury, N.C.; brother, Mark Eulitt and wife Carrie of Vienna, W.Va.; half-brother, John E. Eulitt; step-sister, Larin Patton and husband, Alex; nephews, Donovan Moore, Charlie and Bryson Patton of Statesville, N.C., and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a service following at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Kirk Sams officiating.
