EnergyUnited crews completed restoration efforts to all members affected by Tropical Storm Helene on Monday.

The storm caused widespread damage and power outages across the cooperative’s service area, but thanks to the tireless efforts of our crews and the invaluable support of mutual aid resources from multiple states, power was restored to all remaining members today.

“We are incredibly grateful for the patience and understanding shown by our members during this difficult time,” said Thomas Golden, chief executive officer of EnergyUnited. “I am proud of our line crews who worked continuously battling devastation left behind from this unprecedented storm to make all necessary repairs and to rebuild parts of the grid that were hit hardest. We also appreciate the contributions of our support staff and all members of our storm recovery team.”

More than 800 separate outage events affecting approximately 41,000 members across the 19-county service territory were reported.

EnergyUnited expressed its appreciation to the mutual aid crews who traveled from multiple states across the nation to assist in the restoration efforts. Their expertise and commitment were essential in restoring power safely and efficiently to members.

On Tuesday, EnergyUnited will send a full contingent of construction crews to Western North Carolina to help rebuild their system from Helene’s devastating blow. In addition, EnergyUnited has organized several options for employees to make donations to critical relief for our neighbors in Western North Carolina, and the cooperative will match employee donations.
