A Statesville man and a juvenile face a felony breaking and entering charge in connection with a residential burglary near Troutman.

On September 23, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 1300 block of Perth Road after an individual was seen walking on the property during the night, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a news release.

After conducting a search, deputies were unable to locate a suspect. Due to the incident, the property owner requested regular security checks, specifying that no individuals or vehicles should be present on the property.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, Sgt. Souther was conducting a routine security check at the residence, noticed a vehicle on the property and could hear noise coming from inside the home, Campbell said.

Sgt. Southern and Deputy B. Hager entered the home and discovered Nicholas Stone Audia, 24, of Statesville, along with a juvenile.

After collecting physical evidence and completing the investigation, Sgt. Souther worked with the Department of Juvenile Justice to obtain a secure custody order for the juvenile, who is on active probation for breaking and entering. Juvenile Justice determined that the case met the secure custody order criteria.

 Audia was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering. Magistrate M. Russell denied Audia bond because he was free on bond for other pending charges.

The juvenile was subsequently transported to the Alexander County Juvenile Detention Center.
