Jerry Alan Hicks, 70, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at Glenwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a brief battle with lung cancer. Jerry was born on December 18, 1953, in Tazewell, Va., to the late John and Eibbie Hicks. His parents were originally from Tazewell, Va., but spent their retirement years in Statesville, N.C., where Jerry also made his home.

He is survived by his son, Cameron Hicks; daughter-in-law, Danielle Hicks; and his grandsons, Dantae and Dray Davis; as well as his remaining siblings, George Hicks, Linda Hall, Jo Ann Salyer, and Mark Hicks, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry retired as an asphalt plant foreman for Maymead Inc., where he built a long and respected career. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and horseback riding. In retirement, Jerry cherished his time spent with friends at Lingle’s Landscaping.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rickey Osborne for the support and care he provided Jerry during his illness.

At Jerry’s request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jerry’s name to the American Lung Association to honor his memory and support research in the fight against lung cancer.
